Meet the Team
Ben Kelliher (Head of Training)
Ben has spent the majority of his life living in Watamu. Having taught kitesurfing for the last 12 years he is highly experienced and has the qualifications to go with it. Ben is one of five people in the world that is qualified by the BKSA to train people to be instructors. Aside from kitesurfing, Ben is also qualified to teach windsurfing and wake boarding and in addition is a trained yacht master, first aider and power boat driver.
Ben has spent five years travelling the world visiting places such as Fiji, Mexico, Australia and Spain. It was at destinations like these that he researched the best way of running a watersports facility and most importantly how to provide a high quality service to his customers.
Ellie runs the UK division of Tribe Watersports and spends her time between the UK and Kenya organising watersports training courses.
Ellie has really jumped on the SUP band wagon and has enjoyed spending her time exploring all of the Watamu coast on her board. She is enjoying it so much she is booked on to a BSUPA instructor training course in the new year so she can spend time sharing her experiences of Watamu with the rest of you.
More recently she has spread her talents into kitesurfing and is enjoying her first water starts. She will definitely assure you that it is a lot easier learning in the comfort of Watamu’s warm waters instead of back in the chilly UK.
Sam has done it all when it comes to kitesurfing. After proving himself as the top UK rider by winning the UK tour, he has also gone on to take a number of titles in kitesurfing’s most prestigious competitions such as the Triple S and Rail Masters. He also more recently took first place at the Ro ShamThrow Down in the US.
Aside from these competitions Sam has also placed a respectable 5th in a number of PKRA (world tour) events this year. Sam is the poster boy for Naish Kiteboarding and has a number of fantastic videos that are definitely worth a watch.
